(한국방송신문협회 취재팀) 김대식 기자 = 한독생의학학회와 JBC 전남방송이 주최·주관한 ‘2023 임보크 암환우 희망 북토크 콘서트’에 특별 초청된 첸 시우난(Shiu-Nan Chen) 국립 타이완 생명과학대학 종신교수(사진 왼쪽). 이날 북토크 콘서트에서 시우난 교수는 자신이 연구 개발한 '베타 글루칸(Beta Glucan)' 을 정바울 통역사를 통해 소개했다.

'베타 글루칸(Beta Glucan)’은 다당류의 일종으로 면역증강작용을 가지고 있으며 음식으로 섭취가 가능하다.

인간 정성세포의 면역기능을 활성화시켜 암세포의 증식과 재발을 억제하고 혈당과 혈중 콜라스 테롤을 감소시키며 지질대사를 개선하여 체지방 형성과 축적을 억제한다. 면역계 정상화와 항암 작용, 염증 완화 등에 효능이 뛰어나다.

첸 시우난(Shiu-Nan Chen) 박사는 국립 타이완 생명과학대학 종신교수로 미국 오리곤 주립대학 미생물학 교수 및 영구 리버플 대학 기생충학 연구 교수를 거쳐 '베타 글루칸(Beta Glucan)’을 연구 개발해 혁신적이고 통합적인 컨셉을 제공하며 학계로부터 큰 주목을 받고 있다.

Reporter Kim Dae-sik = Shiu-Nan Chen, a lifelong professor at Taiwan National University of Life Sciences, was specially invited to the 2023 Imbok Cancer Hope Book Talk Concert hosted and organized by the Korean Society of Biomedical Medicine and JBC Jeonnam Broadcasting. At the book talk concert, Professor Xionan introduced the "Beta Glucan," which he researched and developed, through an interpreter to Jung Ba-ul.

Beta Glucan is a type of polysaccharide that has immune-enhancing effects and can be consumed as food.

It activates the immune function of human qualitative cells to suppress the proliferation and recurrence of cancer cells, reduces blood sugar and blood cholesterol, and improves lipid metabolism to suppress body fat formation and accumulation. It is excellent in normalizing the immune system, anti-cancer action, and inflammation relief.

Dr. Shiu-Nan Chen is a lifelong professor at the National Taiwan University of Life Sciences and a professor of microbiology at Oregon State University and a professor of parasitology at Permanent Riverfl University.
